FAQ

What is Hycast’s most significant contribution to the green transition?

Our mandate is to develop technology that makes aluminium production more resource-efficient. By reducing waste (dross), minimizing energy consumption, and eliminating emissions during the casting process, we empower our customers to produce "the green metal" with the lowest possible environmental footprint.

How do you manage your own emissions?

According to Hycast’s Sustainability Report for 2024, 93% of our emissions are categorized as Scope 3 (supply chain). Consequently, we work closely with our partners to ensure sustainable procurement. We have also developed dedicated carbon data sheets for our core products (such as GC, LPC, and SIR), providing our customers with full transparency regarding the climate footprint of the equipment they invest in.

What does the Transparency Act mean for Hycast and your customers?

As a member of the Hydro family, we adhere to strict ethical guidelines. The Norwegian Transparency Act (Åpenhetsloven) requires us to perform thorough risk assessments across our entire supply chain to ensure that human rights and decent working conditions are upheld. To us, accountability is just as vital as technical precision.

What are your results regarding HSE and safety?

Safety trumps everything. Our "Hands-off casting" objective is just as much about removing personnel from hazard zones as it is about operational efficiency. Throughout Hycast’s entire history, we have never recorded a single serious injury.

What is the path forward for Hycast?

We continue to invest heavily in Research and Development (R&D). Through continuous innovation, we will ensure that the technology originating from Sunndalsøra remains the global gold standard for sustainable casthouse solutions.
