Hycast was founded in 1990 by forward-thinking and world class engineers and scientists to secure state of the art technology development of aluminium casthouse equipment. Today we employ 50+ highly skilled employees with operations all over the word.

At the frontline of aluminium casting development - 30 years of innovation
Hycast is a result of an R&D spin-off which means that innovation and development is at the core of what we do. Since our first innovation with the drain-free, in-line degasser in 2001 we have continued to develop and improve casthouse technology. As a pioneer within casthouse equipment we have successfully been able to sustain a high degree of innovation thought the use of rapid testing and validation of new technology and close partnerships with research institutions and partners.
Unique location for technology development
Hycast is located in Sunndalsøra, Norway, in walking distance from Hydro’s aluminium plant. This is not by coincidence at is provides unique access to Europe’s largest primary aluminium plant with a full-scale R&D casting center. This allows for easy and extremely important abilities to test, improve and validate new and existing technologies in an operational and industrial environment.
Local heritage - global reach
Our location, Sunndalsøra, has a great industrial heritage, including pioneering work on hydropower and aluminium production. However, more than 90% of our business is global and close to 70% is outside Hydro. We work with aluminium producers and casthouses all over the world. Our reach and experience spans across quantity and quality, from delivering complete casting lines to some of the largest aluminium producers in China (which also is some of the worlds largest) to custom deliveries to smaller privately owned smelters in Europe where the demand for flexibility and high quality is of outmost importance. Our personell is very experienced in working in a dynamic and international industry and has performed service, installation and hot-commissioning of equipment in almost every continent.
