New LPC project in North America

Hycast® are proud to announce that they have been awarded a contract for an LPC billet casting system for the new Hydro USA casthouse in Cassopolis, MI. The Cassopolis greenfield development will mark the first large-scale production of Hydro CIRCAL® extrusion ingot in North America, supplying high-quality low-carbon billets to the automotive industry.

The ability of the Hycast® LPC technology to produce high quality billet with industry leading surface finish and microstructural uniformity over an extensive alloy range is ideally matched to meet the critical goals Hydro have set for the production from their new plant.

This order marks the second North American reference for the LPC technology and the order, placed at the end of 2021, provides Hycast with an order backlog in their project portfolio that is at an historically high level. Additional orders in 2021 for new GC casting lines from Balco in India and LPC for Innovation Group and Ningde in China reinforces the market’s confidence in Hycast® technology as the leading DC casting technology today.
